Information
Take a walk on the wildside at RSPB Leighton Moss, a fantastic nature reserve with an abundance of special wildlife. Our nature trails lead you into to the heart of our reedbed where you can experience some wonderful wildlife throughout the seasons. In Spring, marsh harriers tumble in a talon-locking aerial display, in Summer red deer graze around the pools, in Autumn flocks of starlings pour in to the reedbed to roost at dusk and in Winter the rare heron-like bittern can venture out to the edge of the reeds. It’s a great place to find out more about wildlife; come along to events and guided walks throughout the year, you can hire binoculars, and children can take out Wildlife Explorer Backpacks; we run lots of family events during the holidays too. For more details about events go to our website www.rspb.org.uk/leightonmoss
Whilst you are here you can get some retail therapy in our superb RSPB gift shop and enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal in our award-winning café. We pride ourselves on sourcing high quality fresh local produce, which is organic wherever possible. Try our tempting selection of homemade cakes made exclusively for us by ‘Anne Hawley’ with a pot of refreshing Fairtrade tea or coffee. All our profits help fund the vital wildlife conservation work of the RSPB, which isa great excuse for that extra helping of pudding!
