Information

Lancaster Priory - a welcoming, inclusive Christian community serving the people of Lancaster.

Overlooking the centre of Lancaster and adjacent to Lancaster Castle, the Priory is situated in a conservation area with stunning views across Morecambe Bay to the Lakeland Hills.

The church is a Grade 1 listed building, located on a site which has seen Christian worship since Saxon times. Many interesting artefacts may be seen including the carved choir stalls with their misericords which are nationally famous and the Lancaster Priory Icon being a recent addition. It is one of the most frequently visited parish churches in the North West, and particularly during the summer months, we welcome many visitors to our services.

Lancaster Priory is usually open to visitors during the day and between Easter and the end of October refreshments and light lunches are available from the Refectory/Coffee Shop. A variety of items may be purchased in our Gift Shop.

Visitors are vey welcome to our Sunday services which are usually held at 8.00 am (Holy Communion), 10.00 am (Priory Eucharist) and 6.30 pm (Choral Evensong).  Mattins takes place on the first Sunday of the month at 11.30 am and midweek services are held on Tuesday at 10.15 am and on Thursdays at 12.45 pm at St John the Evangelist, our sister church on North Road.
